It was cloudy in Seattle today so we headed over to the east side of the mountains to find some sun and a trail we hadn’t done before. There were flowers!
Bitterroot blossom
The trailhead is off highway 97, not too far from the Ingalls Creek hike we did earlier in May. We had a bit of trouble finding the turnoff but we got it the second time through.
The path climbs about 2000 feet total to a ridge offering mountain views.
Path to Rainier
We got views of Mt. Rainier and Mt. Adams. At the top, we were close enough to Mt. Stuart to touch it.
Mt. Stuart just a short hop away
As you can see, the clouds were nowhere to be found.
Laura and Kim enjoy the view
Ridgeline from above
The Spring flowers were out in abundance.

Glaicier lily flowers
Also some lime green lichen was interesting.
